Day 13
Topic: Baptism of the Holy Spirit
Title: The Wind Words
Truth Verse: John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Truth Story: Bill Hybels has written a great book called ‘The Power of the Whisper’. It draws us back to
the high importance God wants from us, to always listen out for His still small voice to discern right
decisions for our life choices. John, in the book of Revelation repeats a phrase several times "Are your
ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches." The Wind
Words are the Whisper of God –the prompting voice of the Holy Spirit, gently speaking to us. That is
why in the truth verse above, the shepherd Jesus is highlighting that His sheep are to listen to His voice
for guidance. In my fifth decade as a Christian, I am more convinced than ever, of the heightened focus
the Lord has for each of us, in both:
The importance of this is understood as we look at two Old Testament figures known as a Priest and a
Prophet. The directions of their roles help us to understand the shared communication between God
and us.
Truth Unpacked: The Old Testament Priest had a role of taking sacrifices and offerings to God. Today,
we are to offer up spiritual sacrifices to God in prayer, praise and worship.
The Old Testament Prophet had a role of listening to hear Gods voice and then communicate it to the
people. Today, we have a responsibility to listen to the wind words – the promptings of the Spirit of God, to lead and guide our lives
Prayer:
Lord like Samuel of old, I say speak Lord for your servant is listening. Give me discernment to hear your Holy Spirit prompting me today. Amen
