Day 4
Topic: Laying a strong foundation
Title: Dressing for success
Truth Verses: Romans 13:14 ...rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh
Truth Story: I thought my denim jeans looked alright, until invited to lunch at the
prestigious golf club in Belfast. My father in law was kind in treating me to lunch, but I was
about to get a dose of golf attire-etiquette. The sign did say “No jeans allowed in the
restaurant, by order of the management”. You’ve already maybe guessed what happened
, yes, as Murphy’s Law says, ‘If anything can go wrong it will” and sure enough, old
Murphy was right on this occasion. My father in law was discreetly approached and
informed that his guest was inappropriately dressed!
Truth Unpacked: There is a great bible story how Joseph gave five garments to his
younger brother Benjamin. Benjamin means “son of the right hand”. Jesus is referred to
as our firstborn or older brother, like Joseph (meaning ‘increase’), and how we as younger ‘spiritual siblings’ are to be those, seated, on ‘his right hand”.
On clothing ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ the scriptures indicates five key faith-garments, which I like to call “God’s Garments of the Heart”. Ask the Holy Spirit now to speak to you, as you look up and read the scriptures, and put on your beautiful garments (Isa 52:1). Look up the scripture verses and complete the blanks below.
-
The garment of S______________________ Isa 61:10

Pray: Jesus prophesied His own return in the parable of the wedding feast.
Read Matthew 22 verses 2,3,9,11,12 and meditate on how critical it is to have your special “wedding garments” on!
