Day 26
Topic: Partnering with a local church
Title: Building blocks from the 1st church
Truth Verse: Acts 2:46, 47 A sense of awe came over everyone, and many wonders and signs were being
done by the apostles. All the believers were together, and they shared everything with one another. They
made it their practice to sell their possessions and goods and to distribute the proceeds to anyone who
was in need.
Truth Story: I remember before days with the gas fire, the joys and challenges of having to make a coal fire
from scratch. The newspapers were twisted and strategically placed with sticks, a firelighter in place for a
speedy light then the coal was added on top. The draught soon caught and if not was aided by a
newspaper placed over the fireplace. We even added sugar – that was my Grannies idea. If a hot coal fell
from its place, onto the hearth, it soon became a dying ember.
Truth Unpacked: Christianity is not a faith to be lived in isolation. We are to be hot living members, (like
the coal) not dying embers that fizzle out and lose our spiritual passion and energy. This is why being a
functioning member of a local church is so crucial.
(Building Blocks continued)
5. Fear of God v43 Do you sense God’s presence in the church?
6. Signs and wonders v43 Does the church believe in the supernatural power of God to save, heal and deliver?
7. Social Concern v44, 45 Does the church have involvement in social action care?
Prayer: Lord, thank you for all the expressions of your church. Help me to get connected and participate in a local church – ‘the hope of the world’.
