Topic: Eternal Judgment
Title: Don’t say I never told you
Truth Verse: Acts 17:31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the
man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.
Truth Story: In the United Kingdom, royal visits involve formalities and customs to be
followed. The Lord Lieutenant and his office are appointed as her majesty’s representative,
responsible for the conduct of royal visits from the start. The New Testament word for royal
or state visit is the Greek word parousia, meaning coming, arrival or physical presence. It is
used 24 times in the New Testament, particularly of the second coming of Jesus as King of
Kings.
Truth Unpacked: King Jesus ‘coming’ involves a day when he will judge the world with justice. To judge means “to separate; to make a distinction between; to exercise judgment upon; to estimate; to bring to trial to sentence; to be brought to account ; to administer government over”
· There will be an appointed day of judgment - For the believer & for the unbeliever 2 Cor 5:10 Rom 14:10 Acts 24:15 Rev 20:11-15
· There will be an appointed judge - John 5:22-27 Matt 25:31-32 2 Tim 4:1 Acts 10:42
· There will be an appointed purpose in this judgment:
1. To reveal the true condition of people Matt10:26/1 Cor 4:5
2. To determine the value of all the works we have done 1 Cor 3:13
3. To publicly reward the deeds done in the body Matt 16:27 Rom2:6-9 Rev 22:12
· There will be appointed principles and standards of judgment
1. With a righteous judgment Rev 19:11 Acts 17:31 Psa 96:13
2. According to God’s holy standards Rom 2:6,10,-12 Rev 22:12
3. According to their attitude to Christ Jn 12:48 Lk 12:8,9
4. According to the measure of light and opportunity given them Matt 11:21-24
5. Personal Responsibility & Personal Conduct Rom 2:5,6/14:10,12 2 Cor 5:1
6. With divine impartiality 1 Pet 1:17
7. With divine all-knowledge (omniscience) Jn 8:15,16 Rev 20:12,15

Prayer: Lord, thank you that you have already taken my judgment for sin on the cross. I look forward to your return that where you are I will be also. Thank you for the foundation of Christ’s being and redemptive work in my life - thank you for granting me an abundant entry into your eternal kingdom, preserved sound and blameless - confident and unashamed before you at your coming.
